If you are under 18 years old, you will need to download the forms (including Young Learner Enrolment form), print them out, fill them in and have them signed by your parent or guardian and then send them to us.
Enrolments
- Enrolments are subject to the following conditions which become legally binding when they are accepted by Maverick School in writing.
- Maverick School reserves the right to accept or decline any student.
- Enrolment is made only when Maverick School receives and accepts full payment of fees.
- Maverick School reserves the right to annul an enrolment if a student has a learning disorder or medical condition that hasn’t been declared on enrolment & which Maverick School is not able to meet or cover.
Fees (Registration, Tuition, Homestay Placement and Accommodation)
- All fees must be paid 21 days before the course begins, or when the invoice is received.
- Non payment (or not having proof of payment) may result in withholding of services by Maverick School
- Student fees are paid into a Public Trust account for your protection and you will need to sign a release form on arrival to our school. If you have not received information about Public Trust please let us know.
- Course fees are worked out in complete weeks, including weeks with public holidays. Three or more days count as a week.
- If any services included in the fee are not used, (except for the accommodation) no refund is possible.
- If there is a late arrival, absence or early departure from the course after the first 7 days of the course, no refund is possible.(*see Withdrawals and Refunds for more details).
- All tuition fees include the New Zealand Government Goods and Services Tax (12.5%). Changes to this law will also affect the amount of fees charged.
- Fees cannot be transferred to any other student or institution.
Cancellations, Withdrawals and Refunds:
Please note that the student is welcome to have a support person with them while discussing any of these issues.
- Cancellations made in writing fourteen (14) or more days before course commencement will result in a full refund of all course fees less the administration fee of $200.
- Cancellations made in writing less than fourteen (14) days before course commencement will result in a refund of all fees, less 10% of the total fee (or $500 whichever is the lesser).
- In accordance with the Education Amendment Act 1999;
- Students enrolled in a course of up to and including four (4) weeks and six (6) days will be refunded 50% of course fees, if they withdraw in the first two (2) days of the course.
- Students enrolled in a course of five (5) weeks or more, but less than three (3) months will be refunded 75% of course fees, if they withdraw in the first five (5) days of the course.
- Students enrolled in a course of more than three (3) months will be refunded all fees, less 10% of the total fee (or $500 whichever is the lesser), if they withdraw in the first seven (7) days of the course.
- Tuition fees, except 10% of the total fee or $500 whichever is the lesser will be held in a trust account until seven (7) days after a student’s course begins.
- The refund of any fees charged by an agent will have to be claimed from the agent separately.
- Refunds on compassionate grounds may be granted at the discretion of the Managing Director.
- If a student withdraws after the first seven (7) days of the course, refunds may only be given at the discretion of the Managing Director. A 10% administration fee may be charged.
- Refunds or enrolment extensions will not be given to students taking a holiday during their course unless agreed on at enrolment.
Homestay Accommodation
- Homestay accommodation includes breakfast, light lunch and dinner.
- Any cancellations or changes to homestay accommodation must be made at least two weeks (14 days) before the cancellation or change. Failure to do this will mean an extra payment of two weeks accommodation fee.
- Accommodation fees are worked out by the day if the time period is less than a full week (from Saturday to Friday).
- Maverick School acts only as an agent for homestay accommodation and cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness or damage to a student or goods which may happen during the student’s stay with a host family. The student is responsible for providing insurance to cover these risks.
School Rules
- The rules set by Maverick School are to help the school run smoothly. All students who enrol with Maverick School must accept and comply with these rules as a contractual condition of enrolment.
- Maverick School reserves the right to refuse entry on a course to any student suffering from a mental or physical disability, if such a disability could affect their own or others safety or academic achievement.
- Maverick School has the right to issue a warning letter to any student who breaks the rules or behaves badly. If there is no improvement in the behaviour, Maverick School may expel the student from the school.
- Students must obey New Zealand laws. If a student commits an offence (breaks the law), or is convicted of an offence, he or she may be expelled from the school without a written warning. Any student who is expelled will not be entitled to a refund of fees.
- The New Zealand Immigration Service will be informed if a student is expelled from the school.
Liability
- Maverick School is not liable for any damage, loss or injury to students or their property, however caused, except where this liability is imposed by the laws of New Zealand.

Maverick School requires students to purchase personal insurance to cover themselves against accident, illness, theft, loss or damage to personal possessions, and the loss of fees through non-arrival, absence or unexpected termination of their course.
- Maverick School is not liable to any student if contracted services cannot be provided for any reason beyond its control.
- Maverick School reserves the right to alter a course if deemed necessary.
Validity: These conditions are valid from 20 July 2007 and remain valid until replaced by new terms and conditions.
Code of Practice: Maverick School has agreed to observe and are bound by the “Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students” published by the Minister of Education. Copies of the Code are available upon request from Maverick School or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website at http://www.minedu.govt.nz/goto/international .
