Housing Options

Most of our students stay with a New Zealand homestay family. We believe it is a great opportunity for international students to experience New Zealand culture and practice their English.

Our homestay families are carefully selected by our staff. The homestay families are experienced, friendly and welcoming, and many have hosted international students before. Families live in pleasant homes in different parts of Dunedin, but usually no further than 10 to 20 minutes by bus.

We can also help you find other types of accommodation in Dunedin if you are over the age of 18 (hostels, apartments, houses). All hostels will be assessed before recommendation. With rental accommodation (apartments or houses) we can help you to find what is available but no previous assessment will have been made. Please see "living costs" for a price guide.

Hostels
, or backpackers, are budget accommodation for students or travellers who don’t have much money to spend. Rooms in hostels are basically furnished, kitchen is shared, bathroom and toilet might be shared or private.

You can choose to live in an apartment, or flat, or share a house with other students. This is only suitable for older, more independent students, and those who are staying long-term. Besides rent you will need to pay your electricity, water, telephone and gas bills, and cook for yourself.

Please let us know what type of accommodation you require so that we can arrange it for you. CONTACT US for more information.
